Alyssum 2019

The Association programme, named ‘Alyssum’, of the Department of Botany, CMS College, Kottayam was inaugurated on 10th October, 2019 by Dr. VP Thomas, Assistant Professor in Botany of Catholicate College, Pathanamthitta. The event was conducted at the seminar hall in Botany Department. We started with a word of prayer by our choir team at 10.00 am and the welcome speech was given by our Head of the Department Smt. Sheeba Thomas. Then the guest was introduced by the faculty in charge of Association and the programme co-ordinator Dr. Rogimon P. Thomas. Then the respected guest along with our teachers officially inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. Then, Dr. Mini Chacko, our Vice principal and Associate Professor in Botany, had given a felicitation speech and also honoured our Chief guest, Dr. VP Thomas sir with a momento. She also congratulated our department toppers Athulya V Gopal (UG) and Jasmine Maria A.J (PG).

The event also marked the launching of logo of “Epoch”, an intercollegiate fest organized by the Department of Botany, CMS College, Kottayam. An annual report on Association Kalami 2018 was given by Anandhu Anil Babu, secretary of Kalami association. And we were blessed to have a wonderful class on Family Zingiberaceae by our respected chief guest, Dr. VP Thomas who opened our vision more on gingers and their varieties and introduced us new species of ginger which include ornamental gingers too. It was an interesting and useful class for interesting aspirants in Botany.

The event was anchored by Ms.Krishna V Roy and Ms. Martina Mariya Sony and a felicitation speech was given by Abhinand V, Association Secretary of Alyssum. The vote of thanks was given by Ms. Sruthilekshmi Jayabhanu, Association President of Alyssum. It was a cherishing event which made our day more beautiful with beautiful moments. We came to the end of the event by 1:00 pm and ended with National Anthem.
