Department of Botany
The Department offered Botany only as a subsidiary subject in 1959. In 1964 its activities gained momentum with the introduction of the B.Sc. Degree Programme. The postgraduate programme was added in 1965. The Department is a Research Centre of the Mahatma Gandhi University from 1985 vide order no. AC.AII (i)/504/85 dated 29.10.1985. In order to keep pace with real-time needs, the U.G.C. sponsored B.Sc. The biotechnology course was introduced in 2002 followed by its Master’s Programme in 2004. Now, it functions as an independent self-financing department in our college.
The Department also offers UGC sponsored Add-On course in “Medicinal and Ornamental Plants” from 2015 onwards, as Certificate, Diploma, and Advanced Diploma Courses for BSc students.
