Department of Economics

The Department of Economics has a rich history, dating back to 1950 when economics was first taught as a subsidiary course. Over the years, our department has grown and evolved, introducing new programs and specializations. The Undergraduate Program in Economics (B A Economics) was started in the year 1981 and the Post Graduation Program (M A Economics) was launched in 2020. The Department of Economics is uncompromisingly committed towards nurturing academic excellence and research in the field of economics. As an integral part of an autonomous college, our department is committed to fostering intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and analytical skills in our students.
The Department provides students with a comprehensive education in economics, emphasizing theoretical foundations, empirical analysis, and policy applications. We aim to equip our students with the knowledge, analytical and quantitative skills, and values necessary to succeed in a rapidly changing global economy.
