Archaeobotany:

Took part in the archaeological excavation at archaeological site of Pattanam (Ernakulam District, Kerala) in 2015 to study the botanical findings unearthed from there.

Interested in the research on paleobiodiversity, past plant utilizations, historical spice trade and domestication of important plant commodities especially in the scenario of Kerala.

Morphological and molecular studies in black pepper (Piper nigrum L.) genotypes

As part of the doctoral research, morphological and molecular analysis of various cultivated and wild genotypes of black pepper present in south and central Kerala was carried out. The intention of the work was to shed light to the domestication process of black pepper, which was once the economic backbone of Kerala.

Interested in a multidisciplinary research which investigates the origin of cultivation of black pepper and other spices in Kerala.
