Microbes have immense potential to be used as as natural fertilizers and biocontrol agents, protecting plants from harmful pathogens. Application of these microbial resource reduces the need for chemical pesticides and thus improving soil health. It fosters a more sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural system. Microbial activities contribute to the formation of soil aggregates, enhancing soil structure and water retention. This is beneficial for plant growth and reduces the risk of soil erosion. Microbes helps in nutrient mobility that further helps in the growth promotion of plants.  Such growth promotion activities include nitrogen fixation, phosphorus solubilization and potassium mobilization and production of several enzymes and hormones that stimulate the growth and yield of plants. Development of microbial consortia can further enhance the nutrient uptake by plants through various mechanisms, including the production of organic acids, enzymes, and growth-promoting substances. Microbial consortia as biofertilizers offer a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to agriculture, providing benefits such as enhanced nutrient availability, disease suppression, improved soil structure, and reduced environmental impact. Continued research and adoption of these practices contribute to the development of more resilient and sustainable agricultural systems.
