SAKSHARAM: A HISTORICAL FICTION (Second Staging)

For the first time, perhaps the greatest literary history of Kerala, embarked on pages, came to life at CMS College Kottayam (Autonomous). Seamlessly intertwining the history of CMS College with fiction, Saksharam brings various historical personages of the early 19th century into its plot, while highlighting the continued relevance of Rev. Benjamin Bailey in the present day.

The play was directed by Dr. Clint Peter Roy, Assistant Professor, Department of Communicative English, whose vision and guidance brought the historical narrative vividly to the stage. A humungous cast of 60 members, including teachers and students from the CMS College fraternity, participated in the production, making it a truly grand and collaborative effort.

Remarkably, Saksharam was staged in three grand shows over three days, attracting large audiences each day and receiving widespread acclaim. Through its rich storytelling, ensemble performance, and meticulous attention to historical detail, Saksharam celebrated both the heritage of CMS College and the enduring cultural and educational legacy of Kerala.
